Themed Casinos
From MGM Resorts International’s Excalibur, with its medieval ambiance, to Caesars Entertainment’s Flamingo, adorned with vibrant pink hues and actual flamingos, each property offers a unique experience.
At the higher end, Caesars Palace transports guests to the grandeur of the Roman Empire, while Paris Las Vegas exudes French charm with its own rendition of the Eiffel Tower.
Meanwhile, MGM’s New York, New York, pays homage to the Big Apple with its Statue of Liberty and New York-style touches.
The Venetian renovations
However, one of the most intricately themed properties is The Venetian.
As one of the standout properties on The Strip, The Venetian has been a landmark since its opening in May 1999. Themed after Venice, the resort features numerous landmarks from the Italian city, including a canal with gondola rides.
With the addition of The Palazzo, the Venetian-Palazzo complex ranks as the second-largest hotel in the world, boasting approximately 7,100 rooms.
Currently undergoing a massive $1.5 billion overhaul, The Venetian is set to redefine luxury on the Strip.
The resort’s comprehensive renovation encompasses everything from rebranding its iconic lion logo to redesigning its suites, which remain the largest standard rooms on the Strip.
Additionally, introducing the Las Vegas Sphere, a cutting-edge music and performance venue, has renewed interest and foot traffic to The Venetian.
The resort’s gaming offerings are also getting a boost, with enhancements including a revamped sportsbook in partnership with Yahoo Sportsbook powered by William Hill, a new poker room, and a Palazzo High Limit Lounge.
Moreover, The Venetian is investing $188 million in its expo center, catering to the needs of convention guests with upscale meeting spaces and innovative technology.
With renovations already underway and bookings for the remodeled rooms set to open in September 2025, The Venetian is poised to maintain its reputation as a premier destination for luxury and entertainment on the Las Vegas Strip.

A new Hotel-Casino on The Strip?
Progress continues on Tilman Fertitta’s ambitious hotel-casino project along the famed Las Vegas Strip, as the developer seeks approvals and permits to advance various aspects of the development.
Fertitta’s team aims to connect the proposed resort to an existing pedestrian bridge at the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard, requesting Clark County to vacate nearby rights of way to facilitate the connection.
They have also submitted requests for a review of exterior LED signs and directional signs for the resort, alongside obtaining permits for the central plant building’s electrical, mechanical, and plumbing components.
Despite these ongoing efforts, the timeline for commencing construction on the 43-story hotel-casino remains uncertain.
Fertitta Entertainment’s Executive Vice President of Development, Jeff Cantwell, noted that they are actively exploring options but have no confirmed updates to share at this time.
Tilman Fertitta, CEO of Fertitta Entertainment and owner of the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casinos, received approval from Clark County in October 2022 for the upscale hotel project, slated to feature 2,420 rooms, restaurants, convention space, a spa, a wedding chapel, and a 2,500-seat theater.
The developer also sought permits for a base podium to kickstart construction and an initial phase for a parking garage.
Additionally, modified plans were submitted for the inclusion of pickleball courts in the project.
Presently, the development site, spanning 6.2 acres at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue, primarily consists of a parking structure and a dilapidated building formerly housing the Tex Mex Tequila Bar & Grill.
However, no permits have been issued as of now for the demolition of the remaining structure on the site.
