If he is to be the next President, it will require Vance overcoming an ominous precedent. Since 1900, just one sitting vice president won the US Presidential election immediately following their service as VP.
That would be George HW Bush, who succeeded Ronald Reagan as President in 1988 after serving as Reagan’s vice president. Joe Biden, the 46th US President, was also Barack Obama’s vice president. However, he sat out an election cycle prior to winning election to the Oval Office in 2020.

Since 1900, Lyndon Johnson, Harry Truman, Calvin Coolidge and Theodore Roosevelt also won elections after serving as vice president. However, each ran for office after finishing out the term of a President who had died in office. Thus, they’d established a track record of what they could do while in charge.
On the other hand, former vice presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Hubert Humphrey and Al Gore were all defeated in the US Presidential election. Although Nixon would later win in 1968 and 1972, he was defeated in his first run at the Presidency in 1960, immediately after serving as Dwight Eisenhower’s VP.
Interestingly, there’s no odds posted on Donald Trump Sr at the majority of online betting sites. Only Betonline is currently giving odds on Trump winning a third term in the White House. That betting line is set at +1000.
This even though Trump is hinting that he might forego the two-term Presidental limit dictated by the US Constitution are make another run for the White House in 2028.
It’s no secret that Trump is seeking to establish what almost amounts to a monarchy in US politics. That being the case, there’s no shortage of family members being given a chance at following in his footsteps.
Along with his son Donald Trump Jr, you can also get odds of +4000 on his daugher Ivanka Trump. There’s a betting line of +5000 on his son Eric Trump. Daughter-in-law Lara Trump is given odds of +12000.
This is truly the silly season when it comes to US Presidential election odds. Betting lines are given on TV hosts, actors, singers and athletes.
For instance, right-wing talk show host Tucker Carlson is set at a betting line of +3000 to be the next President. Tesla, X and Space-X guru Elon Musk is at +3500. Wrestler/actor Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson is given a betting line of +5000.

Other celebrities showing on the odds board include Mark Cuban (+5000), Aaron Rodgers (+7500), Jon Stewart (+8000), Joe Rogan (+10000) and Taylor Swift (+20000).
Should you bet on a celebrity being the next President? No, of course not. Then again, the Oval Office is currently being occupied by a former reality TV host.
We are still incredibly early in the next US election cycle. There’s more than three years until Americans again go to the polls to pick the 48th President. At this stage you might as well be going with a longer shot in your US Presidential betting.
At the moment, with the way he’s been standing up to Trump in regards to protests in his home state, California Governor Newsom is gaining plenty of traction and more of a national profile. You can clearly see the evidence. His betting line has shortened to less than +1000 at Betonline and BetUS. That’s why you should be jumping on Newsom right now in the US Presidential election odds at Bovada while you can still get a line of +1200 on him.
