Although he’s an unlikely winner of the 2024 US Presidential Election, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (+2500) has become a thorn in the side of both Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Speculation has been rife in recent days that the man known as RKF Jr. could be chosen as Trump’s running mate, something Trump’s camp has denied. This has seen a cut in the odds for Kennedy to endorse Donald Trump, which we look at in more detail in our latest politics futures betting.
Americans will go to the polls on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, to choose who will be the incumbent of the White House for the next four years
The current favorite to win the Election is the 45th US President, Donald Trump, at odds of -110. The current President, Joe Biden, is second in the betting at +165
Although neither Trump nor Biden have been confirmed as the nominees for their respective parties, both men look certain to be selected
This would mean Americans have to choose between the same two candidates in 2024 as they did in 2020 – which would be the first Presidential Election rematch since Dwight D. Eisenhower ran against Adlai Stevenson twice in the 1950s
Back in October 2023, when Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. declared his independence from the Democrat Party, he immediately became a dangerous floater with the potential to do damage to Joe Biden and his bid for a second term in office. And given Kennedy’s radical and sometimes outspoken views on some issues, such as abortion and the COVID-19 vaccine, he could almost be seen as a direct threat to Trump as well.
RFK Jr. To Endorse Trump or Biden Betting
With the unpredictable nature of US politics, nothing short of a Biden/Trump bromance would appear to be impossible these days. What was unthinkable a few months ago, seems possible these days, and one previously unthinkable probability that now seems realistic is the idea of Donald Trump picking RFK Jr. as his running mate.
The Trump camp has denied this. But BetOnline now has former Democrat RFK Jr. at shorter odds to endorse Trump than Biden. In the latest odds, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is +350 to endorse Trump and +800 to endorse Biden. Kennedy Jr. is also -600 not to endorse Trump, and -2500 not to endorse Biden.
Elsewhere, RFK Jr. is the +2500 joint-fifth favorite (with Gavin Newsom) in the latest betting odds to win the 2024 Presidential Election. And he is also +800 in the betting to be the Republican Vice-President nominee.
This again makes him the fifth favorite. He is behind Elise Stefanik (+400), Kristi Noem (+500), Ben Carson (+700) and Vivek Ramaswamy (+700). But with BetOnline, he is not even on the list of Democrat Vice-President possibilities.
What has Trump been up to lately?
Elsewhere, Donald Trump can never be kept out of the news. When he’s not in court, he’s hard on the campaign trail. In recent days, he has had outstanding success, sweeping to victories in the first 2024 Republican presidential contest in Iowa and then easily winning the New Hampshire primary.
The victories caused Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis to pull out of the race, leaving Nikki Hayley as the only possible alternative to Trump. In the latest betting to be the Republican nominee, Trump is now -5000, with Hayley at +1200.
One school of thought that needs to be applied to Trump backers here is his health. For all the barbs he throws at Biden’s age and capabilities, Trump is no youngster himself. The endless campaigning and court appearances must be taking its toll on the 77-year-old. And although Trump shows no signs of slowing down, his body might not be able to cope with all these endless rigors.
What about Joe Biden?
As for Joe Biden, despite his unpopularity with the majority of the US population, he is still the favorite to be the Democratic nominee in November. At the moment, Biden is -625. His closest rival with the sportsbooks is Michele Obama, who is +400 with BetOnline. Gavin Newsom is third at +1200, with current Vice-President Kamala Harris at +1900.
Harris is as equally unpopular as Biden. But she is still -700 to be his Vice-President nominee. This shows that unless something drastic happens, the Democrats are going to fight this Election on a continuity ticket, saying to the American people that four more years of the status quo is a better option than the unpredictability that comes with another Trump administration.
Robert Kennedy Jr. Betting Picks
Back to RFK Jr. And in this world of unpredictable politics, could he represent a good value pick to be Trump’s running mate? Political betting opportunities are hard to find, so could this be one?
At the moment, all seems rosy in Trump’s Republican garden. But is his loyal support and Biden’s unpopularity going to be enough to win him the White House? The odds of -110 to win the Election make him the favorite. But far from an overwhelming one. If Trump does need to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the future, might it be RFK Jr. that he turns to? Just in case Trump gets desperate, at odds of +800, Kennedy may well be worth a small speculative bet.
