Fabio Quartararo is a comfortable Moto GP WC favorite at +110. There is some argument that he should be even closer to even or negative money for the title. Why? Quartararo is showing the form in the last couple of races that he showed in 2021. With all the comparisons to Marc Marquez, why would anyone be surprised that he picked to win back-to-back titles?
So, Quartaro won in Portugal and finished second in Spain. That has helped him seize the lead and now boost it up to seven points over Aleix Espargaro. The course landscapes over the final 15 races seems to favor Quartararo over the other contenders. Last year, Quartararo nabbed nearly half the podiums. He already has three podiums and a win this season. Hence, his consistency is a big reason why oddsmakers are comfortable with his number.
The French rider is just 23-years old which draws immediate comparisons with Marquez who was quite the young rider himself once upon a time. Could he go on a similar run and win a bunch of titles? That is a great question. Right now, the landscape of races and his form suggests that Quartararo could. He qualifies well, practices even better, and simply has the ability to raise his level above other drivers. Most just cannot match his consistency.
The big thing at VegasBetting, we suggest is to take a look at the overall results since COVID and one big factor. This is a contract year for the French racer. Yes, he has 16 fewer points when compared to 2021 but his form looks better than ever. Simply, Yamaha has a superstar in its midst. They know it and he is extremely motivated. With a favorable schedule (France this weekend), it is why Quartararo is our Moto GP WC top choice to win the 2022 World Title.
Aleix Espargaro is a name to keep an eye on for the Moto GP World Title. The Spanish racer is 32 and a well-travelled veteran in the motorsports world. He had never found the success some expected until he won the Australian Grand Prix (1st win in 200 races) earlier this season. This campaign has been quite the breakthrough for the Spaniards. Keep in mind, that Espargaro has experienced a ton of struggles in this class.
Now, for Aprilla Racing, Espargaro has surged instead. He currently has four results in the top four and three podiums in the early portion of the season. Aprilia has carried lots of speed and continues to do so in almost every race. Does that last for an entire season? That is the wildcard here. One thing is clear. Espargaro knows how to race a bike well. He just needed a bike that could compete with the top racers like Marquez and Quartararo.
With that knowledge, no one would be shocked if Espargaro can come up with another top finish and maybe even win in France this upcoming weekend. The veteran is far from a diva and a very humble sort. This serves him well in qualifying, practices, and races. He has not yo-yo’d or struggled like some of the other top contenders this season. There has been no issues with power struggles or anything of the sort.
Now, the Spaniard racer has the talent to challenge Quartararo as a Moto GP WC Pick in 2022. This is because unlike some of the younger Moto contenders, Espargaro has seen it all. He has seen so many of the lows that the racer will not be phased by the spotlight. Instead, he is relishing every second of it. The scary part for top contenders is that Espargaro may only get better from here.
Again, are there any long shots to take a look at for this year’s Moto GP? The answer is not likely south of +1000 to be blunt. The problem sometimes with the 21-race season is that some riders miss qualifications, do not get points, etc. Also, the point structure for the top places is interesting at 25-20-16-13-11-10-9 for the top seven spots offers a spread that can lead to protecting a cushion well.
Then, there are is Marc Marquez who can regain his form at any time. How does he play into this at +500? Could Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini have an impact on the race? That answer is yes as well.
This is why even with all the young talent, Marc Marquez still intrigues us in the Moto GP Picks.
Take Fabio Quartararo as our top choice to reign over the field and win the 2022 Moto GP World Title once again. He is our best of all the title picks.
