Yes, those 2023 MotoGP April Futures Bets ponder more notable shifts over the last month. From before Portugal to Argentina, a good deal has happened. That resulted in some noticeable moves in the numbers. Some racers surged while others fell back. This is a constant process as names will come and go at breakneck speed.
When one gets down to business, Portugal showed the might of Francesco Bagnaia as he swept the sprint and race. Argentina went differently, as expected. It would take a superhuman effort from the Italians to win again. Marco Bezzecchi delivered the good and won by more than four seconds over Johann Zarco in South America while racking 34 points. Meanwhile, Bagnaia floundered in the race, picking up just four points.
This Italian kept looking poised and, sure enough, did pull the victory off. Ducati performed well as Bezzecchi vaulted up to first in the early standings, with Bagnaia now nine points behind. Johann Zarco is lurking early while some injured riders remain in contention. Even Fabio Quartararo was better in Argentina but still slow late as he finished in seventh. At the least, it keeps Texas spicy for the race coming on the 16th.
People ask, so why do we look at the early number moves? Vegas Sports Betting likes to take some creative fliers and smaller money wagers in nontraditional places. With the MotoGP April Futures Bets, a bettor tries to gain an edge on a season that has 19 more races to go. It is a little odd that the riders raced in Portugal and then came to Argentina a week later. Combine that with humid and moist conditions, and maybe the unexpected was expected.
The season previews hinted at such results in this first leg. A quick turnaround favored a rider like Bezzecchi, who looked great at Portugal and had a bike fine-tuned for Argentina. The racer went from a long shot at best to a second choice as short as +550 on BetUS. Some of the more traditional contenders predictably slid back because they were either ineffective or out with injuries.
That is why at Vegas Sports Betting, we attempt to make some order out of the disorder so far.
2023 MotoGP April Futures Bets asserts that the constructors are destructors. It sounds boring and predictable, but Ducati is the class of the top tier after two races. They have both wins and a total of five podiums. Aprilia has the other, yet it still feels like Francesco Begonia’s title to lose somehow. Frankly, Ducati rules the roost, must like it did during the second half of 2022.
The Italian duo many thought would be at the top of the list is not the same duo that was projected. With Enea Bastianini injured, Marco Bezzecchi embraced and ran with the moniker. Again with several riders out or significantly impacted, the first leg is like an opening round. Look at how Fabio Quartararo stormed out of the gates last year. Fundamentally, that was not happening this year, especially after the rains in Argentina.
VegasBetting noted all these early bumps after the first two races. Without that lap one incident, would the Argentina race have changed much? The blunt answer is not much. Quartararo lost speed later in the race too. It did not seem to be all from the incident. Vinales and Bagnaia were not completely incident-free either. These encounters are going to be more frequent in 2023 hence the expectation of many variances and head-scratching.
Again, two important things have happened so far. Bagnaia shifted into the negative and riders like Bastianini, Quartararo, and Marquez lengthened to anywhere from +1400 to +2000 already. Out of that trio, Quartararo remains the most consistent candidate to bounce back.
For 2023 MotoGP April Futures Bets, can we now look to Austin? Last year’s race in Texas took place about a week before then this year’s version will. Enea Bastianini and his Ducati had excellent late-lap race speed. However, he set the fastest lap on lap 14 and then almost again as the white flag was waved. Even Bagnaia qualified third in 2022 after some mediocre practice times. During the race, the Italian wound up fifth but six seconds away.
That race featured some humid and moist conditions. Could the same happen again in a week and a half? Now, this is possible. The difference is how much the numbers have changed on BetOnline.
The problem for someone like Bastianini is the statement is not wrong. Alex Marquez is a really long shot. Now, that speed and acceleration in Argentina may play well in Austin. Marquez carries an interesting +2500 number and could be worth a few dollar wager.
Do not sleep on Jack Miller? He is only going to get better as this year moves along.
Online betting sites, like Bovada and BetUS, like Variety and Bagnaia still going forward. Good luck!
