Through the first two weeks of the season, football fans have been treated to some outstanding battles. You can go ahead and expect more of the same once the games start up again for Week 3. In this piece, we have our NFL picks for Week 3 showdowns, which of course includes the big-time battle between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles for Monday Night Football.
You better believe that Eagles vs. Cowboys will be a fun battle during Monday Night Football for Week 3. Right off the top, the matchup between Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts will make things interesting because of their dual-threat abilities. Prescott, coming off his fractured ankle last season, is really looking like his old self in 2021. That’s of course been great to see for Cowboys fans.
Thus far this season, Prescott has thrown for 640 and three touchdowns. For him to average 320 passing yards per game has been fantastic and it’s a big reason why the Cowboys are 1-1 on the year. Dallas lost its first game of the season going up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they nearly pulled things off and even had a lead late in the fourth quarter.
NFL Week 3 odds | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Eagles to win | +180 | +180 | +180 | +180 |
Cowboys to win | -215 | -215 | -215 | -215 |
Rams to win | -110 | -110 | -110 | -110 |
Bucs to win | -106 | -106 | -106 | -106 |
Meanwhile for the Eagles, the team is also 1-1 on the season after winning in Week 1, but losing in Week 2 to the San Francisco 49ers. Hurts can make you pay either with his strong right arm or his outstanding wheels. This is something the Cowboys defense is going to have to keep in mind on MNF when these two teams end up facing off and undoubtedly put on a show.
According to the Las Vegas sportsbooks, Dallas has been given -215 NFL odds, while the Eagles are slight underdogs at +180. With this game being played in Dallas at AT&T Stadium, this will obviously benefit the Cowboys as well. Regardless of that, Philly will try and steal a win away from Jerry Jones’ team. We don’t think that will happen, however, as we’re going with Dallas as our pick. Agree? Check out our NFL betting sites and place a wager.
Elsewhere, will the Packers be able to upset the 49ers in San Francisco? This is a question that NFL fans surely have on their mind, as Green Bay is hoping to keep things going on the right foot after a terrible start to the season. In Week 1, Aaron Rodgers was embarrassed in the 38-3 loss to the New Orleans Saints, as he really struggled to get the offense going.
It really was a complete and total surprise to see the Packers play so bad. With that said, there’s just no way that kind of play is going to continue moving forward. The offense is simply too good, with Davante Adams and Aaron Jones ready to ball out as well. Their play will be crucial for Green Bay in trying to record an upset victory against San Francisco in the Bay Area.
The 49ers will try and prevent that from happening, with Jimmy Garoppolo leading the way for the offense. Garoppolo and San Francisco beat the Eagles in Week 2, coming away with a 17-11 win. It should be noted that rookie quarterback Trey Lance is also waiting in the wings. If Garoppolo were to struggle, Kyle Shanahan could look to Lance to clean things up.
Per the oddsmakers, San Francisco indeed is the favorite here with its -188 odds, as Green Bay has been placed at +158. Playing on the road and winning as a visiting team is never easy in the NFL, which will make things a bit more difficult for Rodgers and Co. But, we like Rodgers and Green Bay to wake up and record a strong win in Week 3. The Packers are our pick.
Last but not least, the Bucs vs. the Rams should be quite the matchup in Week 3 over in California. Both teams are an impressive 2-0 to start the campaign. At quarterback, Tom Brady is looking like he’s in the prime of his career for Tampa Bay so far in 2021, while Matthew Stafford has been brilliant in his first campaign playing for the Rams in the NFC West.
That QB battle between the two should be awesome for Week 3. With the Bucs, we have to talk about the play of tight end Rob Gronkowski. The veteran TE recorded two touchdowns in Week 1 and then followed that up with two more scores in Week 2 going up against the Atlanta Falcons. Don’t forget, this guy came out of retirement last year to play with Brady. He’s been fantastic.
The Rams will do everything they can to try and slow Gronk down, as they no doubt have one of the best defenses in the game. It will be a tough task for sure. Vegas has LA as the slight favorite with -110 odds, and Tampa Bay has been placed at -106. With Tampa Bay looking so dominant, we think that they’ll keep it rocking in Week 3. We’re going with TB as our selection.
