Week 12 of the 2025 NCAA football schedule features one of the bigger matchups of the season, as the Texas Longhorns travel to Athens to face the Georgia Bulldogs in SEC action. The Georgia vs. Texas contest is the late national game, airing at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
Saturday’s game is a rematch of last year’s SEC title game, a contest that Georgia won 22-19 over Texas.
Texas comes into Saturday’s game as the No. 5 team in the SEC with an overall record of 7-2 and an SEC mark of 4-1. The Longhorns are ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll and are riding a four-game winning streak that includes victories over top-10 ranked-competitors, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt.
Georgia is the No. 3 team in the SEC with a conference record of 6-1 and an overall mark of 8-1. The Bulldogs’ only loss of the year was a 24-21 setback to Alabama at home in late September. Georgia, ranked No. 5 in the nation, has won five games since that defeat..
The Texas Longhorns can still make the NCAA Football Playoffs, but that journey requires a win over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday in Athens. Texas cannot look past Georgia to its upcoming games against Arkansas and Texas A&M, which it also must win to make the playoffs. This is a make-or-break game for the Longhorns’ playoff hopes.
Texas quarterback Arch Manning was the preseason favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. His play early in the season removed him from that conversation. However, Manning has turned things around. His vision on the field has increased, and so has his confidence. In Texas’s opening game, Manning had a 56.7 completion percentage. In his most recent outing, that number was 75.8 percent.
Texas is coming off a bye week heading into this game, and that should serve them well. Being 100 percent prepared for Georgia could give them an early advantage. However, they need to start fast, establish their offense, and set the pace. If Texas fails on that front, this game will get away from them.
The Texas defensive line will be tested by the Bulldogs’ running game. If the team can’t hold early, they will be in a tight spot, as the Bulldogs have been effective on the ground. They put up 303 yards against Mississippi State.
There were some pundits who were a little worried about the Georgia Bulldogs vs. the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Week 11. Those concerns proved to be unfounded, as Georgia went out and downed Mississippi State 41-21. If that team comes out against Texas, this should be a fun game on Saturday.
The Bulldogs are not a team that rushes the quarterback frequently, ranking 128th in sack rate in college football, but that could change against a young and relatively inexperienced quarterback who is in a must-win situation. Georgia coach Kirby Smart would be well served to put pressure on Manning early to see how he reacts and then set the team’s defensive game plan from there.
Georgia needs quarterback Gunnar Stockton to be at his well-rounded best on Saturday. Stockton went 18 for 29 for 264 yards and three touchdowns against Mississippi State. He also put up 31 yards on the ground on six carries. Stockton needs to get the Bulldogs to a fast start. An early lead for Georgia will put more pressure on Manning and could increase the chances he’ll make mistakes under center.
The Georgia defense is No. 4 in the SEC. They need to be up to the task on Saturday.
Texas Longhorns vs. Georgia Bulldogs Betting Picks and Predictions
The Texas Longhorns have been playing well over the past few weeks, and Arch Manning has looked good. The team is also coming off a bye, which will have them ready for Saturday. However, playing the Georgia Bulldogs at home in November is a different animal.
The betting pick is for the Georgia Bulldogs to beat the Texas Longhorns in Week 12 NCAA football action.
