---|---|
Phoenix Suns | +175 |

Utah Jazz | +490 |
Los Angeles Lakers | +960 |
Memphis Grizzlies | +1050 |
Denver Nuggets | +1100 |
Dallas Mavericks | +1425 |
The top NBA Western Conference Champion Futures pick since the start of the 2021-22 season has shifted around to a few teams. When it comes to the Phoenix Suns, they have been given little respect. Now, this was a team that was one game from winning the NBA Championship. They lost in the NBA Final to the champion Milwaukee Bucks.
One of the reasons why they are still considered the tiniest of favorites is this. Their guard play has been outstanding. Chris Paul and Devin Booker are a 1-2 punch that few teams can even come close to matching. Paul and Booker are the engines that push the Phoenix offense. It is not often two guards from the same team get MVP consideration but here we are.
So, here we are again. Phoenix is winning 60 games and could win 65. The Suns would have to win 17 of their final 24 games just to get to that 65th victory. Now, 60 wins seems guaranteed (they would have to go .500). Phoenix has built a 6.5 game bulge ahead of second-seed Golden State in the race for the Western Conference top seed. The Memphis Grizzlies are now 8 games out with less than a third of the season to go.
Now, the debates get fierce for NBA Western Conference Futures Updated Picks. Also, there are the Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies, and maybe more?
It is understandable why the Golden State Warriors are still so close to the Phoenix Suns in the odds. The team around Steph Curry combined with his all-around ability especially on the defensive end makes their status even higher. Also, teams like the Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz just do not have the experience like the Warriors do. Therefore, the Golden State Warriors are our updated NBA Western Conference Champion Futures pick.
As we head out of the All-Star Break (action begins again Thursday), the Golden State Warriors are still contenders to win the NBA Western Conference Champion Futures for several reasons. Once again, the Warriors chances have lengthened just enough and even at MyBookie. The fact that Golden State is back past +200 is significant.
It is all about the second half so far. The one team that is currently on fire is the Phoenix Suns, who have won seven straight games. Over the past ten games, the Warriors are just 6-4, and holding on to the second seed for dear life. Suddenly, the Memphis Grizzlies have won eight out of ten to push just 1 1/2 games out of the Western Conference two seed.
Again, it does not seem Golden State too worried by anyone, even the Phoenix Suns. Klay Thompson just has to get back into game shape and Draymond Green has to come back from his well back issues. That is why Golden State has fallen back so far behind the Suns. It appears Golden State may have good news too.
While Chris Paul could be out for awhile for Phoenix, Golden State needs Green if they expect to overtake Phoenix, Memphis, and even Utah in the playoffs.
For the NBA Western Conference Futures pick, our best bet is to now take the Golden State Warriors and hope their odds even lengthen a bit more until Green returns.
The Memphis Grizzlies (+1050) and Utah Jazz (+490) both look solid this year. Could they win this? There is always a chance and Memphis is lurking at 41-19. Meanwhile, Utah could try and make some moves at 36-22. Utah probably needs another depth piece or two to truly contend in the West. They have hit a bit of a flat stretch like Golden State but do not have the record the Warriors have either.
The Memphis Grizzlies, by contrast, are scary good. They are one of those young teams that could make a run like the Atlanta Hawks did last year.
The huge boost for Memphis backers is they have a lot of value from +1000 to +1100 currently. The only problem is that Memphis’ numbers will begin to shorten more as the postseason approaches.
Out of the two challengers, the Memphis Grizzlies are the better choice to win the Western Conference over Utah.
MyBookie went a little longer with their odds with Denver and that is more the exception. The good news is that thankfully other teams have better value in the Western Conference and even yes the Eastern Conference.
Even with the Nuggets, MyBookie offers at +1100. This is likely to lengthen actually as Golden State sees the return of Draymond Green and Memphis is just too good of a value. As for the Los Angeles Lakers, they have LeBron James but just too many problems to overcome at 27-31. Their odds will lengthen as well.
Take the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA Western Conference title this season.
