There are only two games on the NBA schedule for tonight, Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Both games air on Prime Video. The late contest, starting at 10:00 p.m. ET is an important Western Conference matchup between the Pacific Division leading Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs, who are tied for first in the Southwest with the Houston Rockets. The Lakers are the No. 2 team in the West, while the Spurs check in at No. 5.
The Spurs and Lakers have faced off once this season. Los Angeles won that game 1181-116 at home.
San Antonio heads into tonight’s game 3-2 in their past five outings, with four of those games taking place on the road. They are coming off a 132-132 win in New Orleans on Monday. Overall, the Spurs are 16-7 on the 2025-26 NBA season with a 7-5 road record. They are 10-6 in the conference.
Los Angeles is also 3-2 in its past five. With their three most recent games being road contests. The Lakers last played on Sunday in Philadelphia, winning 112-108. LA has a 17-6 overall record, with a home mark of 7-3. The team is 12-4 against Western Conference foes.
Tonight’s San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Lakers game is an NBA Cup quarterfinal matchup.
While the Los Angeles Lakers are getting healthy, the San Antonio Spurs have been without their best player, Victor Wembanyama, since November 14 due to a left calf strain. Wembanyama is scheduled to travel to Los Angeles with the team, according to head coach Mitch Johnson, but he isn’t guaranteed to play. The Spurs have an 8-3 record this year with Wembanyama out of the lineup, but they’ll miss him against the Lakers’ offense.
With Wembanyama on the shelf. De’Aaron Fox is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 24.3 points per game on a team-high 32.7 minutes. In his bigger role, Fox has stepped up, averaging 25.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.3 blocks, and 2.4 threes in 31.7 minutes in his past seven outings. Fox and Wembanyama have played only 4 games together this season.
The Spurs had Wembanyama in the lineup when these two teams met earlier this season. However, the Lakers were missing LeBron James. In that game Spurs held a lead in the fourth, but saw that lead disappear when Los Angeles went on a 21-0 run to finish the game.
The Spurs need to game-plan for Luka Doncic and James tonight, and doing that without a healthy Wembanyama is a big ask.
LeBron James returned to the Los Angeles Lakers lineup in mid-November. On Sunday, against the 76ers, the soon-to-be 41-year-old had his best performance of the season, scoring 29 points while shooting 70.6 percent from the floor. He went four-for-six in three-point shots. He played 34 minutes.
While James being back in the lineup is an enormous boost for the Lakers, this is Luka Doncic’s team now, and he is playing great to begin the year. Doncic leads the NBA in scoring, averaging 35 points per game. He’s also first in the league in minutes at 37.1. Doncic leads the Lakers in points, rebounds (9.2), and assists (9.1).
The Lakers are also likely to have Marcus Smart back in the lineup tonight. Smart hasn’t played since November 25 due to back issues. He said he was going to “give it a go” in this game. Smart has averaged 9.3 points, 2.9 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 steals in 26.8 minutes per game this year. He has played in 14 contests.
The Lakers’ depth is a major concern for the Spurs.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Lakers Picks and Predictions for Wednesday, December 10, 2025
If both teams were fully healthy, this would be a close game, but with Wembanyama likely to miss the game, or if he plays, be at less than 100 percent, things lean in favor of Los Angeles.
The betting pick is for the Los Angeles Lakers to beat the San Antonio Spurs tonight.
With Doncic and James in the lineup look for the Lakers to cover.
