In what turned out to be one of the best baseball seasons that fans have enjoyed in quite some time, the Los Angeles Dodgers were able to come out on top and record a win that will never be forgotten. In Game 7, it looked like the Blue Jays were going to win, but LA stunned us all late. And because of that, the Las Vegas sportsbooks took a hit with the Dodgers winning the World Series.
According to multiple reports, the sportsbooks in Sin City indeed took a bit of a blow, as people cashed in on their futures bets. Before the postseason even stated, the MLB betting sites had the Dodgers at +240 to win the title and plenty of people bet on that to happen. When Will Smith hit his game-winning homer, it was incredible for Los Angeles, but bad news for the sportsbooks.
It felt like it was written in the stars for Toronto to win the title. They were up 4-3 heading into the top of the ninth inning, with one of the best closers in the game taking the hill. However, the Dodgers were able to tie things up and then the game went to extra innings. In the extra innings, the Dodgers were the ones to get the job done, with Smith being the hero.
With so many people making their way to Las Vegas for the Game 7 matchup too, you already know that plenty of wagers probably went in on the Dodgers to capture the glory. Again, Toronto did everything possible to pull off a stunning title win, but there was no magic for them and Los Angeles was able to prove everyone wrong and repeat as the World Series champs.
The Dodgers are already the 2026 World Series betting favorites
There’s no way that a three-peat is going to be on the way, right? Well, don’t write that off just yet, as the Dodgers are already the 2026 World Series betting favorites. This is something that people can’t be too shocked about, as Los Angeles is going to bring back a ton of talent, of course including Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and others who will be hungry for another championship win.
“This was not easy,” Friedman said on winning it all. “The season was not easy. I feel like in a lot of ways, we performed to our 30th-percentile outcome, which can happen. There’ve been seasons where we’ve performed above it, seasons where we’ve performed below it. But for them to find ways to win baseball games at the time it matters most I think says a lot about the character of this group.”
Looking to get in on the betting action too? This is our reminder for you that despite the MLB season still being about five months away from starting, there’s no better time than now to check the sportsbooks for new promotions and specials they might be offering. People already can’t wait for the ’26 baseball season to get here and you’re definitely going to want to check out those deals before the first pitch of the new year.
As for the action back on the diamond, the Dodgers currently hold +350 World Series betting odds for next season. There are plenty of other teams who are of course going to be in the mix with high Las Vegas odds, including the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and others. It’s not going to be easy for the Dodgers to win three in a row, but they’re going to be a team to keep an eye on.
Las Vegas bettors will have a close eye on the Seattle Mariners too
In terms of underdogs, Las Vegas bettors will have a close eye on the Seattle Mariners too, as the AL West side is once again going to be ready to make a splash in ’26. This past season, the Mariners won the AL West title for the first time since the 2001 season. They beat the Tigers in the ALDS and then they faced off against the Blue Jays in the ALCS.
It was a wild series, with the Mariners winning the first two games in Toronto. However, the Blue Jays then won the next two in Seattle before the Mariners won Game 5. Unfortunately for all of the Seattle fans out there, the Blue Jays won Game 6 and then Game 7, with George Springer’s 3-run homer in Game 7 getting everyone off their seats at the Rogers Centre.
Despite that heartbreak for the Mariners, this team is built to compete for the long haul thanks to talented pitching and great hitting. Plenty of Las Vegas bettors followed the Mariners closely last season and something tells us that’s going to be the case once again next spring, summer and fall. We’re not saying Seattle will win it all, but don’t be surprised if they make a splash.
