This is why people pack their bags and make their way to Las Vegas for a long weekend. Whenever people make their way to Sin City, they hit the local casinos in hopes of hitting it big and that’s exactly what has happened recently. That’s right, a Canadian Tourist hits $150,000 jackup during a Vegas visit and it’s something that people all over town and back home for him must be talking about.
According to a new report from the Las Vegas Journal-Review, a Canadian Visitor made his way to the Flamengo Las Vegas last Friday for some casino action. He decided to try his luck at poker like so many people do and after a little more than 30 minutes, he was able to hit the life-changing jackpot. It helped him take home a little more than $150,000, which was awesome to see.
“A five-card straight flush made for a nice payout for a Caesars Rewards member visiting from Canada on Friday,” Arlette Yousif of the Las Vegas Journal-Review has reported. “The player hit a major progressive jackpot of $150,158 at Flamingo Las Vegas after only playing for 35 minutes, a Caesars representative said in an email. Way to go to the lucky winner!”
Imagine making your way to Las Vegas from Canada, sitting down at the poker table and then next thing you know there’s a straight flush right in front of you. Not only that, but you’re also then notified soon after that it was for $150,000. That happened to be the case for this lucky winner and it’s something that they’re never going to forget. This is what makes going to Vegas so special.

Tourism numbers continue to be on the downfall in Las Vegas
While that recent jackpot winner provided some exciting news, it doesn’t take away from the fact that tourism numbers continue to be on the downfall in Las Vegas. This is something you’ve probably seen, but recent reports have stated that the year-over-year numbers have fallen by about 7-8 percent. What has led to things going down instead of up in this case?
Well, plenty of people have voiced their displeasure with how expensive a visit is to Vegas, with prices skyrocketing across the board. Between resort fees, hotel rooms, ticket prices for shows, concerts and sporting events, it’s no surprise at all that people haven’t been racing to get back to town. However, an uptick in the numbers is expected with the football season here.
With the Las Vegas Raiders back in action, people are consistently checking the NFL betting sites for the latest and updated Las Vegas odds for the team. Not only that, but we don’t have to tell you that Super Bowl betting is always through the roof in Las Vegas in early February, with people flocking to the city for a week of festivities. That’s going to be the case once again this year too.
Whenever the Super Bowl arrives, the traffic numbers for the Las Vegas online casinos always go up too, but visits increase as well. It’s hard to believe that we’ve already reached the sixth week of the NFL season and some teams are separating themselves from the pack. Look for people to keep placing NFL bets both while in Vegas and away from their homes for the rest of the season.
MLB betting is also making a ton of noise for Las Vegas
While a lot of the focus right now has been on NFL and college football action, keep in mind too that MLB betting is also making a ton of noise for Las Vegas and the local markets. The MLB postseason is in full swing, with the ALDS and NLDS here. In the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers are hoping to take down the Phillies, who hold the top World Series Vegas odds.
While there’s no pro team – yet – in Las Vegas, that doesn’t mean that people aren’t paying close attention to the postseason. A team that a lot of people in Vegas are following closely are the Seattle Mariners, who are in the middle of a great series with the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers stunned everyone by winning Games 1 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, but the Mariners were able to respond in a big way by winning Game 2.
Now, these two teams are all tied up and the Best-of-5 series is heating up. Plenty of people currently in Las Vegas are placing a ton of MLB bets and that’s going to continue over the next few weeks. As soon as the World Series gets here too, things are only going to go up. Will the Mariners end up making it to the World Series for the first time in club history? We’re all about to find out one way or the other.
