The start of the English Premier League season was about as exciting as anyone could have imagined. There were plenty of head turning wins and even more fun action will be on the way this weekend. There are some fun games that people can’t wait to see. With that said, BetOnline has Manchester City among the favorites for EPL matchday 2. Will Pep Guardiola and Co. come out on top?
On Saturday, Man City will take on Tottenham, who is coming off a 3-0 win over Burnley last weekend. Manchester City was able to cruise to a win over Wolves, with Erling Haaland reminding everyone that he’s still one of the best strikers in the world. Haaland and the rest of his teammates are hoping to be in the title hunt by the time the season comes to a close and expectations are high for the club.
“Maybe it was a good message for the club for the future because [now] you don’t take it for granted,” Guardiola said after the opening win vs. Wolves. “Maybe it’s a good warning for the next few years, not just this year. Do the proper things, and look to the competition — Liverpool, Arsenal, of course United and everything. It’s just a first step but it’s a good start.”
According to the BetOnline sports betting numbers, Manchester City is a -190 favorite to take down Tottenham in the second game of the season for the two teams. As for Spurs, the London side holds +225 Las Vegas odds to post an upset win. This is a big-time early test for Manchester City and people can’t wait to see how things go down. Regardless of who wins, you can expect plenty of goals to be scored.
The over/under for Manchester City vs. Tottenham in matchday 2 has been set at 2.5 goals
Is an offensive showcase on the way? That’s what plenty of people think, as the over/under for Manchester City vs. Tottenham in matchday 2 has been set at 2.5 goals. As we mentioned above, Tottenham scored three goals in the season-opening win vs. Burnley, which was expected. No disrespect to Burnley, but their defense is quite weak and Tottenham barely broke a sweat in the win.
On the other side of things, Manchester City is led by Haaland, but there’s plenty of other offensive firepower for the club. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Phil Foden is still a great talent and he has the ability to score whenever he’s out on the pitch. He’ll look to remind everyone of that against Tottenham. It wouldn’t be a shocker if both he and Haaland score goals for MCFC in a high-scoring win.

It really shouldn’t be a defensive battle, as plenty of goals are expected to be scored in this one. Plenty of people think Manchester City will have no problems posting a win, with at least three goals combined for the two teams not being far-fetched.
Will Manchester United be able to get back on track this weekend?
A big question plenty of people have right now is will Manchester United be able to get back on track this weekend? Last season, things were a complete and total nightmare for the Red Devils. Erik Ten Hag was fired and the board eventually brought in Ruben Amorin to take over. In the first game of the season, the Red Devils played well, but they still lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal.
There’s a completely different look for this team, with Marcus Rashford now on loan with Barcelona. Alejandro Garnacho is away from the team and all signs are pointing to him joining Chelsea FC sooner rather than later. Antony and Jadon Sancho are also away from the club and no one knows what’s going to end up happening with them, although a resolution is expected before the window closes.
As for Manchester United as a whole, guys like Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo are turning heads already since making the move to Old Trafford. In matchday 2, the hope from MUFC fans is that a win over Fulham will get posted. It’s going to be a tough road test. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out, but United can’t afford another loss to open the season.
