Alright, the entertainment world descends on Los Angeles a week before the Super Bowl for the 2024 Grammy Awards. Bovada online Vegas sportsbook brought home the numbers for the 66th Annual Edition. These numbers expect to anger some but it appears Taylor Swift (six nominations) fans should be very happy but SZA leads the way with nine nominations. Keep in mind that anything can happen at these awards.
2024 Grammy Award Numbers | |||
---|---|---|---|
Record Of The Year | |||
Taylor Swift - Anti-Hero | -250 | -225 | -250 |
Miley Cyrus - Flowers | +250 | +275 | +300 |
SZA - Kill Bill | +400 | +380 | +350 |
Boygenius - Not Strong Enough | +700 | +650 | +700 |
Billie Eilish - What Was I Made For? | +750 | +800 | +800 |
Olivia Rodrigo - Vampire | +1000 | +900 | +900 |
The 2024 Grammy Best Bets looks at the event from the standpoint that Taylor Swift is a solid favorite in several categories. Those include Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Album Of The Year for starters. Album Of The Year is for her runaway smash “Midnights” which is a commanding -1000 to -1200 favorite depending on the site. Lana Del Ray and SZA are relatively distant contending in the category.
So, overall Swift comes in with six nominations and that even includes a Best Pop Vocal Solo Performance nod where she is a favorite too. It becomes intriguing to note that the last few runaway favorites have not done quite so well. Harry Styles stole the thunder of Adele one year, etc. Swift now has 52 nominations and 12 awards. She may not have the success rate (12 for 46 or 26.1%). However, that can always be worse.
Now, some have even mentioned a sweep. As always, we temper some expectations down a bit. Record Of The Year may be less likely than say Best Pop Vocal In A Solo Performance. That category seems like one where Swift should beat out her competitors. After all, it is her performances which draw tons of fans. Furthermore, her impact on economies cannot be underestimated. There is also that Time Person Of The Year win too.
The focus lies on where to bet with Swift. Will there be surprises? Yes. it is the Grammy Awards. Best Pop Solo and Best Vocal Album feel like the areas to exploit here. After that, there lies much uncertainty it would seem. Also that performance Grammy gives Swift +130 odds.
So, we talk extensively about spoilers. Yes, there are likely 4-6 good candidates in each major category this year. The 2024 Grammy Award Best Bets point to some other facts too. Already, VegasBetting mentioned the Swift success rate which is a little low. However, some argue that Lana Del Rey’s “Did You Know There’s A Tunnel” may have a slight advantage for Album Of The Year. At +600, it is a moderate long shot but still the second choice.
With several gambling wagers possible, the options start to mount. Look at SZA who leads with nine nominations but is not a true favorite in any of the major categories. Her “SOS” stands a real chance at +700 for Album Of The Year too. “Kill Bill” at +300 for Record Of The Year keeps gaining some traction too. Does Olivia Rodrigo or even Jon Baptiste get a win here? Anything is possible.
So, again these are merely opinions. One thing we learned from previous year was to pay more attention around social media than on the books. When Harry Styles won multiple awards, few saw it coming. Now, SZA gets a bit more notice here. Could she pull it off? Does Miles Cyrus sneak in and surprise (she does have six nominations). Cyrus is a slight favorite over Swift in the Best Pop Solo Performance category.
Simply, numbers figure to fluctuate a good deal over the next 20 days. These markets ebb and flow very differently. Look at the Oscars, Golden Globes and even the Miss Universe as examples. Some saw predictable results and then others went way off the rails. Sometimes, there is no exact science. However, Lana Del Rey or SZA feel like they could nab that Album Of The Year. Our money is on Lana Del Rey here.
Okay, how about some fun longer shots and more in the 2024 Grammy Award Best Bets. The fun part picking in this area is there are so many good songs, albums, and performances. How does one pick the best among the best? These nominees truly make it tough. However, we have a few winners in mind. One of them is Kylie Minogue for Best Pop Dance Performance at -160. We wish her number was longer but she is almost a lock here.
Now, among the 6-8 categories we took deeper dives into, the longer shots again carry more intrigue than some of the favorite. Often, this is just how the Grammy Awards seem to work. It’s difficult to explain then it pops one right in the face. Jon Baptiste created an excellent album and might steal a Grammy from one of the favorites. Do not discount him at +300 for “Butterfly” (Song Of The Year) or +2500 for Record Of The Year.
Yes, there are inevitably others too. Olivia Rodrigo again for Vampire is interesting at +900 to +1000. Also, do not forget Jelly Roll at +900 for New Artist Of The Year is gaining steam rapidly. If one does not know his story, go search it on YouTube or Google. Better yet, watch his testimony at Congress. Like his songs, it is delivered with movement, passion, and conviction.
For the 2024 Grammy Award Best Bets, picking Jelly Roll feels like the move.
