It’s almost time for one of the most iconic races on the Formula 1 roster to take place. Yes folks, this weekend is the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix. And with Max Verstappen finally facing some competition from his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez, this Sunday’s race promises to be an interesting spectacle. Can Verstappen claim his second career win at Monte Carlo? Or will his teammate throw another spanner in the woks? Let’s take a look with our Formula 1 betting picks.
Let’s get straight into the betting odds to win the Monaco Grand Prix. Yes, Max Verstappen is favorite, but for the first time this season, he’s not odds on to win. Max Verstappen is +125 to win the Monaco Grand Prix. This represents a significant change in the latest Las Vegas odds, as he was -240 to win the canceled Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. And in the race prior to that, the Dutchman was -225 to win the Miami Grand Prix.
Following Verstappen in the betting is his teammate Sergio Perez. Perez is +325 to win what would be his third race of the season. And with this being another street circuit, the Mexican will fancy his chances. Sergio Perez was also victorious in this race last year. Although that was as much down to Ferrari’s disastrous team orders as anything the Mexican driver did.
And speaking of Ferrari, Charles Leclerc is next in the betting to win at +475. It was Leclerc who was leading this race last year, when his team got their strategy all wrong, allowing Perez through to take the checkered flag.
Making up the top four in the betting, and the last of the candidates with a realistic chance of winning the race (at least in the eyes of the best Formula 1 betting sites), is Fernando Alonso. The Aston Martin driver is +550.
After that, comes Lewis Hamilton. Check this out, the 7-time World Champion is +2800 to win the Monaco Grand Prix.
Unbelievable. And no wonder the Mercedes driver is being linked with a move to the more competitive Ferrari team. It’s really saying something when Ferrari are regarded as being more competitive!
More betting odds on the Monaco Grand Prix can be found on our latest F1 odds table. These odds are taken from the best Las Vegas sportsbooks for Formula 1 betting.

The betting odds to win a Grand Prix aren’t overwhelmingly favoring a Red Bull win for the first time in months. Prices of +475 on Leclerc, and +550 on Alonso haven’t been witnessed all season. But before anybody gets too carried away, they need to bear in mind that Max Verstappen won here in 2021, and Sergio Perez in 2022.
But that doesn’t guarantee anything for Red Bull this weekend. As we’ve already mentioned, the win for Perez was mainly down to a huge Ferrari strategy mistake. And the mistake was unforgivable, given Leclerc had done the hard part, and won pole position.
Yes, the key to success at the Monte Carlo street circuit is getting into pole position. Overtaking at this circuit is notoriously difficult, meaning the car that starts the race on pole has the best chance of winning it. Last year, Leclerc won pole, and was leading the race. So although the statistics say Red Bull have won back-to-back races here, they could be classed as a touch misleading.
As for Charles Leclerc, it goes without saying he will want to right the wrongs of last year. But he has an appalling record on his home circuit, which includes three DNFs from his first three races here.
But Leclerc will have the extra motivation of showing his team what he is capable of. Especially after the stories linking Lewis Hamilton with the Prancing Horse team.
We’ve already mentioned how important pole position is at Monaco. So with that in mind, we’ve taken a look at the races so far this season to see who has the most pole positions.
Of the five races, Max Verstappen has been on pole twice, which is also the same amount as Sergio Perez. The one race a Red Bull wasn’t at the front of the grid was in Buka, where Charles Leclerc qualified fastest for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
So, we now know that Perez has matched his teammate Max Verstappen for pole positions in 2023. We also know that Perez performs much better on street circuits. Even his own team principal has mentioned it this season, in the wake of the Mexican driver’s win at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
In addition to the above, Perez is also +325 to win the race. We believe this makes him the best value bet to win this race. So our pick to win the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix is Sergio Perez.
