The welcome idea of MLS three-way betting does put fear into some bettors. When factoring in the chances of a draw in a soccer match, wagers can get to be a risky proposition. For example. most teams draw 25 to 35% of the time. What became an afterthought just suddenly became a consideration.
Now, ideally, there are just some teams that draw or play lower-scoring games than others. That is a fact of life in the MLS. Also, the schedule at this time of year can play an influential role as well. For example, New England will be playing Monday night before Wednesday’s game against Orlando City. There is always this danger when betting on soccer.
So, the Revolution will have 14 games under their belts while Vancouver will too. Orlando City played 13 contests while Seattle has played just 12. That is often very commonplace this year. Also, Vancouver and Seattle have combined for just three draws. By contrast, Orlando City and New England have racked up seven between the two teams. Orlando is the only team that is over .500 at 6-5-3 on this slate.
Now, MLS Picks 6/14 and 6/15 focus on the following. Can New England and Seattle take advantage of some home cooking?
Some do not remember that the Seattle Sounders are a dangerous team in MLS. Their early 2022 start put them in quite a hole. When a team wins just twice in their first eight games, questions start to arise. Fortunately, the Seattle Sounders are showing a better form of late. Furthermore, they have only played just 12 games. There is still a lot of seasons left for Seattle to get into a postseason position.
So the concern with Seattle was how they would bounce back after losing last year in such a heartbreaking fashion. The Sounders finished second overall in the West and third in the 2021 MLS Regular Season. They lost to Real Salt Lake in the first round of the playoffs via penalty kicks (5-6). That was after going scoreless against a team Seattle split and tied on aggregate at 2 during the regular season.
This Sounders had some issues scoring last season. This season has been more of the same at times with Seattle scoring 15 goals in their 12 games. Again, winning three of their last four contests cures some ills and that does include a clean sheet over Houston, which is holding the last playoff spot right now in the Western Conference. Again, it is early but Seattle did allow 0.97 goals per game last year and scored 1.56 goals per night.
Early on, Seattle remains more focused on defense but their -1 goal margin is not too much cause for concern. When the offense is clicking, they are one of the best. Fortunately, they are playing Vancouver which has yielded 1.71 goals per game this season. Those are two main reasons why the Seattle Sounders are good for MLS Picks 6/14 and 6/15. Take the moneyline outright.
MLS Picks 6/14 and 6/15 focus on another team who has struggled after doing well last year. That is the New England Revolution. New England expects to “rev” up against Orlando City on Wednesday night. This is mostly because the Revolution were one of the top teams last year and usually bounces back about now. After all, New England finished tops overall in MLS last season with a 22-5-7 mark while averaging nearly two goals a game.
Sadly, New England has suffered through some bad bouts of passing and bad luck in the scoring areas this season. Still, they are eighth offensively with 22 goals scored overall in MLS play. They are a top-ten team with top-five offensive talent. Orlando City will not have an easy time playing against them. This is one of the teams that nearly beat eventual champion NYCFC but lost in penalty kicks. Bruce Arena has this team ready for a charge.
For the MLS Picks 6/14 and 6/15, our pick is to take the New England Revolution at home on Wednesday night. They possess good scoring chance numbers at home and typically convert a few more chances. Also, having played Monday will give them a bit of an advantage over Orlando City. Being a little fresher never hurts especially this time of year. Consider how so many teams have had off and picking the Revolution outright has appeal.
Yes, June rolls along, and the sports world keeps going. For starters, there are some excellent NHL playoff betting odds as the Stanley Cup begins this week.
Once more, this is the time of the year to take a look at other MLS teams. That will help a bettor get the feel of who has been good and not quite so good. Teams are again coming back from long breaks. Tread carefully at first.
Finally, after the NBA Playoffs end, there is still Wimbledon (tennis) to come later this month as well. June does not slow down that much.
