Round 18 of the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship is the Singapore Grand Prix. The race takes place against the backdrop of the spectacular Singapore skyline on the Marina Bay street circuit. Lando Norris is the favorite to win. But his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri will be eyeing more glory after winning on the streets of Baku last Sunday. In our latest Formula 1 betting picks, we tell you who to get your money on.
Lando Norris again failed to cash in on the struggles of Max Verstappen and Red Bull in Baku last weekend.
The British driver could only manage a disappointing fourth-place finish, with his Drivers’ Championship rival Verstappen finishing fifth. As a result, Norris picked up 13 points, and Verstappen 10.
The 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix was won by Oscar Piastri. The Australian held off the challenge from Charles Leclerc to win his second race of the season.
As a result of the first and fourth-place finishes from Piastri and Norris, McLaren now leads the Constructors’ Championship.
McLaren sits atop the championship with 476 points. Red Bull are second on 456. In the betting, McLaren is now -1000, Red Bull is +550, and Ferrari is +1600.
With the way the season is going, Ferrari looks the bigger threat to McLaren. And it could be well worth having a few dollars on them to finish ahead of Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship.
The thought of Red Bull not coming in the first two in this market was unthinkable at the start of the season.
But such has been the poor form of Sergio Perez all season, and the poor performances from both their cars in recent weeks, that’s where Red Bull is at this moment in time.
Lando Norris is again the betting favorite to win the race this weekend.
Ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the British driver was +120. But thanks to his poor showing in Baku, Lando Norris is +175 to win the Singapore Grand Prix.
His teammate Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari are the joint-second favorites at +350.
The second Ferrari of Carlos Sainz is +700. And how about this, Max Verstappen is the fifth-favorite at +900. Any odds on Verstappen starting with a nine were more likely to have a minus in front of them at the start of the 2024 season.
Elsewhere, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton are both +1600. And the street-circuit preferring Sergio Perez is +3300.
Despite starting the season as one of the favorites, Perez has had extraordinarily long odds to win in recent weeks.
He was cut to +2500 to win in Baku. But after another poor performance in the Azerbaijan capital, he finds himself drifting again in the betting to win in Singapore.

Max Verstappen still hasn’t won a race since Round 10 in Spain. In his last two races, he has finished sixth in Italy, and fifth in Azerbaijan.
On the flip side, Lando Norris finished third in Italy, and fourth in Azerbaijan. The British driver is simply failing to cash in on the struggles of Verstappen and Red Bull.
Ahead of the race in Baku, Verstappen was -190 to win the Drivers’ Championship. Norris was +135. After the race, Verstappen is -225, with Norris drifting to +175.
The bookmakers saw it as a small win for Verstappen last weekend.
There are seven rounds left including the Singapore Grand Prix. Lando Norris and McLaren are fast running out of races.
The gap stands at 59 points. Norris needs to make up an average of roughly 8.5 points a race on Verstappen to take the championship. At the moment he is not doing that.
After the street circuit of Baku last Sunday, the drivers have another to deal with at Marina Bay in Singapore. And it’s not just the punishing nature of a street circuit they will have to deal with, the drivers will also have to cope with driving at night, along with the humidity.
The humidity and the bumpy street circuit make Singapore hard to cope with mentally and physically. And if anyone is not at the top of their game, they will get found out this weekend.
Lando Norris badly needs a win in Singapore if he is to win the 2024 Drivers’ Championship.
Unfortunately for Norris, he has only won twice this season, and despite having the best car since Round 6, he is simply not making the most of it.
But it’s the McLaren car we are again focussing on for this race.
Oscar Piastri probably looks the driver most likely to win the race, but the Australian has been asked to support his teammate’s bid to win the Drivers’ Championship.
In other words, if Piastri is leading the race with Norris in second, the Australian will be asked to move aside and let Norris through for the maximum points. But the problem is we can’t trust Norris to be in second.
So after considering all that, we have decided to – again – back any McLaren to win the race for our betting pick.
