This week in the EPL features some solid matchups. With that said, there are some close games that will draw the fans in. This VegasBetting article features EPL picks Weekday for January 11-14th of the season.
Will Southampton be able to hold serve at home? Also, can West Ham bounce back after the last few weeks? Finally, will Brighton mount any kind of offense to fend off Crystal Palace on Friday?
Southampton must defeat Brentford on Tuesday
Especially with a 4-6-9 record (wins-losses-draws), the Saints must defeat the Bees on Tuesday. The problem is that Southampton is not the most consistent team on the planet when it comes to wins lately even at St. Mary’s Stadium in Hampshire. They can be respectable but it just seems that the team, as a whole, cannot get out of its own way. Their 1-1-3 record over the last five matches is indicative of a squad that has quite a few issues.
Scoring is a main problem as the Saints have struck for just 20 goals in 19 games. That is barely over one a match. Their -9 goal differential is a direct result of their lack of ability to finish in the final third. There was even clashes with Brighton and Tottenham where just another goal would have sufficed. Too often, the Saints just cannot get things moving to where the goals come rolling in.
There has been a little momentum generated in the last couple of matches including an FA Cup triumph before the start of 2022. The fact that Southampton scored three goals twice in a three match span carries some significance. Now, what about those numbers for this weekin the English Premier League?
Back to the Brentford Bees, the EPL has some interesting teams. Arguably, Brentford is not quite one of them. They give as good as they get — scoring 23 goals and allowing 26 goals. The Bees do have a 6-8-5 mark which includes a 2-2-1 stretch over the previous five contests. Brentford was able to defeat Aston Villa 2-1 on January 2nd.
Take the Southampton moneyline over Brentford on Tuesday
The Saints enter this game as 1/2 goal favorites. Why? It is simple. Southampton has looked better in consecutive weeks while scoring five goals in the past two matches. The spread has been set at the usual half goal, with even moneyline odds that Southampton wins. Meanwhile, Brentford ranges around +275 to +300 on the best soccer betting sites that the Eagles cover.
The Southamton Saints find a way to win on the moneyline advantageby a goalover the Brentford Bees Tuesday.
West Ham Should Easily Defeat Norwich this Wednesday
Over in the land of London proper, the West Ham squad should easily defeat Norwich this Sunday from beautiful London Stadium in East London, England. So, this appears to be an easy one for West Ham but they did shock quite a few pundits by showing some signs of struggle the past five matches going 2-2-1. Their margin of error has seemed to decrease of late. Despite that, they still rank fifth in the table with ten wins on six losses and four draws.
West Ham United bounced back, with big wins over Watford and Crystal Palace last week to get themaway from falling back to .500. The even better news was their offense coming to life. They outscored the two teams by a combined 7-3. More importantly, that reset their goal differential back to +10 which was more like the form they showed earlier in the season.
With playing Norwich (20th in the table), the team is hoping to keep rolling. Most believe that West Ham United can win this match with ease. This EPL Weekday pick holds a little more interest than usual. Can the East Londoners avoid a trap here or will they power through Norwich like everyone and all of England expects?
So, Vegas Odds list the West Ham Squad at -345, while Norwich’s best number is +1000. Norwich would be one crazy pick to win but their odds to draw is a more manageable +485. We are taking West Ham with the safe moneyline pick on Wednesday. Do you agree? Go look at some of these splendid betting site bonuses from the Las Vegas bookmakers and go make some money!
Brighton and Crystal Palace Round Out EPL Weekday Picks
The last game for EPL Weekday Picks takes us back to Amex Stadium in Falmer. Brighton and Crystal Place battle it out between teams mired in the middle of the table. I am a bit stoked for this, as Crystal Palace could score a few goals against Brighton. These two teams both need wins badly for different reasons and Palace has a bit more offense (29 goals in 20 games).
The biggest uncertainty for Brighton is can they slow the game down. That is what they do best. They average 1.05 goals for and against on the season with a 2-1-2 record in their past five matches. It has been far from pretty but effective as they remain plenty clear (16 points) of the relegation race. However, they are not a squad that can climb to the upper echelon of the EPL table.
Again with Crystal Palace, they are kind of in the same position table-wise (11th overall). Their creativity in the final attacking third makes them an intriguing target and their strikers and midfielders are a slight upgrade over Brighton. Even on the road, that should translate. It again comes down to execution.
Crystal Palace carries +305 odds to win outright. This expects to be a game where a late goal turns the tide. That leads us to pick the underdogs Friday.
