In his past 13 starts at Michigan, Hamlin has finished outside the top 10 only three times while placing in the top five six times. Since 2019, Hamlin has not finished worse than ninth on the track. He has two runner-up and two third-place finishes during that span.
Hamlin, the driver of the No. 11 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing, has two wins this year and six finishes in the top five. He has led 450 laps. However, things have not gone Hamlin’s way as of late. After a rough patch where he placed 21st, 38th, 36th, and 16th, Hamlin was third in Nashville. He is currently in fourth place in the NASCAR standings and has 13 playoff points.
Ryan Blaney got his first and only win at Michigan in 2021, but he has been in contention over the years. In his past 10 starts on the track, he has finished in the top 10 seven times. Blaney slipped a bit in his most recent start in Michigan, placing 18th in 2024, but there’s no reason to believe he won’t be near or at the front of the pack at the end of the 2025 FireKeepers Casino 400.
Blaney is the driver of the No. 12 Ford for Team Penske. The winner of the 2023 NASCAR championship, Blaney placed second at the end of the 2024 season. He had his struggles early this year, but Blaney has been performing well as of late, picking up five top-five finishes in his past seven starts, including a win last week in Nashville.
Blaney is in seventh place in the points standings for 2025 and has led 338 laps on the season.
