NASCAR rolls on down to Alabama err Talladega for the YellaWood 500 on Sunday afternoon. The top 12 for the playoff chase attempt to clinch one more of the coveted eight spots. Last week, William Byron took the spot that looked like Kyle Larson’s for the taking. Hendrick lived up to their billing with a different driver. Yes, the NASCAR Vegas betting odds for the Talladega race have arrived.
The Talladega numbers for Sunday afternoon are extra close, with no driver shorter than +1000 on BetOnline, Bovada, and MyBookie. Now, the second race of this round is a crapshoot. Again, with William Byron winning, there are seven spots up for grabs in the next two weeks. Fortunately, the Bovada online betting sportsbook was first with the Sunday afternoon numbers.

NASCAR Talladega Bets begins and literally already will drive fans and bettors nuts. Certain drivers just do not perform well here. See Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr. and even Kevin Harvick to a point. This is because most of the Ford cars seem to have gotten slower and slower in terms of running speed.
Now, Talladega worries about drivers like Kyle Busch as well. Rowdy keeps crashing in a variety of ways. Throw out last week where many had issues and even then, it’s not good for the Richard Childress Racing driver. He is now 17 points below the cutline. Even Ryan Blaney is 11 below, but he has time and two tracks he is pretty good at. The playoffs are more about positioning and striking while the iron is hot.
Alas, the RFK drivers are inside the top 8, Hendrick Motorsports is too (Kyle Larson and William Byron). Then, there is Toyota with Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, and Christopher Bell. They all come from the Joe Gibbs Team. However, Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick from 23XI Racing, are on the outside looking in. Now, the fun is trying to make sense of a non-sensical race. Talladega features game-changing wrecks.
VegasBetting fared pretty well thanks to banking on Hendrick last week and a surprise Ross Chastain prop (throttled to second). Talladega is a 2.66-mile extra-wide track built on carnage. Banking ranges from 32 to 33 degrees. Even the tri-oval is more than 16. The 500-mile race was in 2022 saw six cautions for a total of 25 laps plus no laps of overtime.
NASCAR Talladega bets feel like a dartboard for Sunday afternoon. Okay, overtime typically does not happen. There is less of a chance of rain. Though the 2021 race was shortened due to rain as Bubba Wallace won after 117 laps. Keep in mind, accidents and big wrecks can occur at any time. Just when it is quiet, it may be too quiet. Last year, Wallace had the race won but was involved in a crash on the last lap.
Ford enjoyed a nice run before the pandemic with the Fall races winning six straight times. Toyota has won two of the past three with Elliott sneaking a win in last year. He also won Stage 2 as well in 2022. Again, everything can look great at Talladega until it is not. That is why the numbers are where they are.
Now, while Martin Truex Jr. merely tries to survive to Charlotte, Bell has a chance at the win. It’s a longer one than usual. However, the bad luck seems to be reversing itself from previous years on superspeedways. Yes, all it takes is one, but Bell and his No. 20 Toyota are very fast for Joe Gibbs Racing.
A potential Round of 8 spot comes ripe for the picking, and many cars have a shot at this. Last week changed some things as Kyle Larson is on the bubble and may need Charlotte to get in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Bell has an opportunity to get closer to a Round of 8 spot and has the potential to take one outright on Sunday. It’s a fun long shot in a sea of longer shots than usual.

With how many drivers have the potential to contend or crash, one has to be mindful of trying to think a little smaller than usual in bankroll and larger in volume. Stage structure (60-60-68) favors drivers that can run in clean air and avoid the carnage. Toyota appears to enjoy an advantage. However, RFK Racing and again Chase Elliott remains wildcards here. Even Ross Chastain has some intrigue given earlier track success and his second place last week. The “Melon Man” appears to be undergoing a renaissance at the right time. He finished fourth last Fall and simply ran out of time.
The NASCAR Talladega wagers like some more cars. Again, this is a chaotic sort of race that often comes down to something at the end which blows one’s mind. Ideally, Erik Jones is good for a top-ten finish (six times in past seven races). After that, uncertainty rolls in like snake eyes. Ryan Blaney is the next most consistent driver with three top-fives and four top tens. For now here, we stick with the numero uno from Trackhouse Racing.
