CFL Future Bets require an open mind. Thanks to MyBookie online sportsbook, there are always some different options to bet on in September. After all, there is only so much NFL and College Football one can bet on, right? The CFL’s “favorite” is Winnipeg for the third year. Will we look at the surprise team? Could we be backing Winnipeg anyway? Below are the odds from some prime online betting sites.
2022 CFL Futures September | ||
---|---|---|
Winnipeg Blue Bombers | +125 | +110 |
British Columbia Lions | +400 | +450 |
Toronto Argonauts | +500 | +550 |
Calgary Stampeders | +500 | +450 |
Saskatchewan Roughriders | +1000 | +850 |
Winnipeg is king in the CFL Future Bets. Granted, the regular season is not even over yet, and there are never any guarantees in the playoffs. However, through 14 games, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have won 12 times. Already, the two-time defending Grey Cup Champions have clinched a playoff spot. The division and top seed are almost inevitable at this point.
Now, the Jets are a ridiculous and easy choice because they have the potential to have a perfect record currently. Several missed kicks and a few odd turnovers caused one of their losses to Montreal. Besides that bump in the road, the Blue Bombers have beaten every team at least once. They did have an odd stinker last week against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of all teams though.
So, Winnipeg figures to bounce back next week against Saskatchewan. They will be pretty angry after stewing around with this second defeat. At least the Blue Bombers’ future is back in the plus territory. It was in the negative the last couple of weeks for a while. Just think, at the start of the season, the Blue Bombers were in the +250 to +300 range. Times have changed.
Therefore, CFL Future Bets focuses on the inevitable questions. Can Winnipeg win a third straight Grey Cup? Could there be that dreaded surprise team lurking in the shadows? Here at VegasBetting, a CFL possibility could derail Winnipeg’s three-peat.
This could melt away quickly, but Winnipeg has marginal value among CFL Future Bets. The Blue Bombers are human, after all, and anything can happen. They did allow 48 points last week to a 4-9 Hamilton team. On any given CFL weekend, a team can spring an upset. Montreal is 5-7, and Hamilton is not likely to make the playoffs at press time. That is good news for Winnipeg.
The other positive is that British Columbia and Calgary could push Winnipeg a bit more. British Columbia is still somewhat in the race for the division and top seed at 9-3. Yes, they did lose Nathan Rourke but they finally won last week after two consecutive losses. It was a huge two-point win over Calgary in Calgary that saw Vernon Adams Jr. shine in overtime to fend off the Stampeders.
Winnipeg is still is the safer pick here. When both teams were healthy, Winnipeg vanquished British Columbia by more than 20 points earlier in the season. However, it is clear that there is a pecking order with Winnipeg at the top, British Columbia a tentative second, and Calgary very close at third. The Blue Bombers still have the balance between winning the close games in the playoffs. British Columbia and Calgary are still lower on the learning curve.
Finally, the playoffs will go through Winnipeg. They will get home-field throughout the early rounds barring something unforeseen. Winnipeg expects to win 15 games, and we have already cashed out the over on wins. The Blue Bombers are one of those teams that will get it together for the playoffs. The Winnipeg Grey Cup pick is good for more CFL Future Bets. Maybe the number lengthens a little between now and October.
CFL Future Bets asks the betting world to keep an open mind again. Could the British Columbus Lions still pull this off? That does seem a bit outlandish but consider that they won eight of nine games with arguably the “Most Outstanding Player” in the league in Nathan Rourke. They lost him, sputtered around, but again won in Calgary in a hostile environment last week.
Again, their only loss with Rourke under center was that early season undressing against Winnipeg. Those things happen to young quarterbacks. Vernon Adams Jr. is 36. He has seen it all in the CFL. Adams Jr. will not be phased by the Blue Bombers’ defense or a raucous home crowd booing him. It will come down to whether the quarterback can run the offense close to the level of Rourke, even in the most clutch of situations.
Few would be pleasantly surprised with a British Columbia and Winnipeg clash for the 2022 Grey Cup or even Calgary. The best thing for CFL fans is that the Lions and Stampeders do this all over again in British Columbia over the weekend.
For CFL Future Bets, taking British Columbia is a bit of a risk, but that leadership means something this time of year.
Though the Toronto Argonauts (+550) and Calgary Stampeders (+500) are intriguing picks, does one stay away from both teams? These are teams full of talent but not quite as a clutch when the fourth quarter comes. Calgary has lost every close game against Winnipeg and even British Columbia.
They are the more likely of the two to get over the hump.
