The MLB season is set to continue when the Los Angeles Dodgers travel to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in the first of a four-game series.
The Dodgers have begun their season in decent form but have hit a rocky patch recently, with a regular season record of 25-12 at the time of writing. The Diamondbacks on the other hand have had a difficult season so far, going 19-18 at the time of writing.

The reigning World Series champions had the perfect start to their season despite an early start in Tokyo, as they claimed back-to-back wins over the Chicago Cubs.
They returned to Dodger Stadium a little over a week later to take on the Detroit Tigers on opening weekend and claimed a 5-4 win, before two more wins against Detroit in the following days 8-5 (10 innings) and 7-3 to move to 5-0 for the season.
Next up was a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves where 6-1, 3-1 and 6-5 wins saw them move on to 8-0, and it looked like there was going to be little in their way to prevent them from potentially going back-to-back in the World Series.
However, Los Angeles suffered their first defeat of the season in their next game against the Philadelphia Phillies on the road as they lost 2-3, before then losing three of their next four against the Phillies and Washington Nationals.
The Dodgers then won six of their next eight games, followed by four defeats in their next five against the Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates. The team responded to that rocky patch and then went on an excellent seven-game winning streak against the Pirates, Miami Marlins and Braves, but have gone 2-2 in their last four coming into this game.
The Diamondbacks have had a topsy-turvy season so far in 2025 having started their season by going 2-2 against the Chicago Cubs before three wins in their next four over the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals.
They then lost three consecutive matches against the Nationals and Baltimore Orioles, before finding their rhythm once more and going on a run of seven wins in their next eight games including a five-game winning streak. Back-to-back losses to the Cubs next halted their momentum, before a win over Chicago and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Arizona lost their next four games in a row, and ended the month of April with a 16-14 record. So far in May they’ve not had the best of time either, going 3-4 in their seven games heading into this one.
The team went 2-2 against the New York Mets either side of a 1-2 mini-series defeat against the Philadelphia Phillies, and come into this game on the back of a heavy 7-1 defeat to hand them a season record of 19-18 before they face the Dodgers.
The Dodgers have come through their first rocky patch of the season and have now claimed nine wins in their last 11 games, which makes them heavy favorites coming into this match up.
Teoscar Hernandez has started the season in great fashion with 21 runs while hitting a .315 average and nine home runs, while he has been supported well with Tommy Edman hitting 19 runs and eight home runs himself, alongside a .252 batting average.
Then you remember they also have the legendary Shohei Ohtani on their roster, and he is batting a .299, having hit 40 runs and 10 home runs this season to show they have got more than enough firepower to put any team to the sword.
While this is a great pitching match-up on paper, it is very hard to bet against Yamamoto this season. So far in this campaign, he has allowed 0 earned runs in four of his seven starts, and has put together a 0.90 ERA in 40 2/3 innings pitched, with 49 strikeouts.
With an advantage in the pitching and also in the batting, the price of -154 for Los Angeles to get another win on their record looks good and that’s what we’re going for here.
There is also great value in the Diamondbacks to over the -1.5 spread at -125 too if you want the extra value on your bet, although the moneyline option is safer.
