This time of the year, there’s always going to be a bit of an uptick in terms of people who make their way to Sin City. Thanks to NFL action, people love going to Las Vegas because of the fun atmosphere of the casinos and sportsbooks. However, that doesn’t mean that all of the news is great. Per a recent report, the Las Vegas tourism numbers are concerning for local casinos, there’s no doubt about that.
The preliminary numbers have shown that there was actually a six percent decrease in the amount of Las Vegas visitors in a year-over-year study from 2024. That’s not what anyone was hoping to see for 2025, as there was a hope that things would once again improve. Vegas took a big hit due to COVID rocking the world not long ago, but that had been a rise in visits in recent years.
However, the sudden decline for 2025 has had an economic impact on the city, which is not great. What could have led to less visitors in ’25 compared to the previous year? A theory that experts have is that the high number of states now featuring legal sports betting could have played a role in people deciding to not make their way to Vegas for big sporting events.
Usually, Las Vegas brings in countless visitors for the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals and more. However, with so many states embracing legal sports betting, people have been able to stay closer to home for their sports betting needs instead of traveling all the way to Nevada to put some money down on their favorite team. The decline in Las Vegas tourism and betting is a trend that officials want to avoid for 2026 and beyond.
The Super Bowl will help Las Vegas tourism get the ball rolling for 2026
It goes without saying, but the Super Bowl will help Las Vegas tourism get the ball rolling for 2026. As we mentioned above, the NFL postseason is in full swing right now, with eight teams left in the hunt to take home the Lombardi Trophy. This weekend, there will be four fantastic games for people to check out, of course including the Seahawks being in action, plus the Broncos – both teams are the No. 1 seeds in the NFC and AFC, respectively.
“I just have to remember to remind myself that we got to this point because of our process every day,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said on facing the San Francisco 49ers this weekend. “Our mindset has really just been take away all the extra stuff (and) let’s focus on what we do, playing our style of football, and let the results take care of themselves.”
Looking to get in on the betting action? This is our reminder for you to check out the views and info guides we have for the Las Vegas online casinos. Throughout the year, there are some fantastic bonus codes and promotions for people to take a look at. With people consistently checking the NFL Vegas odds too with the playoffs here, it’d be a wise move to do so.
As for the action on the field, the Seahawks hold the best odds per the NFL betting sites to win the Super Bowl this year. However, the Rams, Broncos, Bills and others are right behind Seattle. It will be interesting to see how things shape out during the playoffs, but we are confident the betting numbers will be high. There Vegas tourism numbers over the next month should be strong too.
March Madness will also boost tourism numbers for Las Vegas
It goes without saying, but March Madness will also boost tourism numbers for Las Vegas. Each March and early April, just like the Super Bowl, people pack Vegas for the NCAA Tournament and this year is going to be no different. This provides an economic boom for local businesses, while the sportsbooks and casinos are typically packed to the brim as well.
The end of the NFL season will help set the table for the college hoops action too. Once conference tournaments get underway as well, the expectation is that we’re going to see more and more people make their way to Las Vegas. And then once the tournament officially gets started, tourism will reach its maximum potential. So, how many people can Vegas expect to make their way to town?
That’s hard to say, but plenty of excitement will be on the way there. Yes, things didn’t go to plan in 2025 for Las Vegas and its tourism, but the big tent pole events on the way to start the new year sure will be able to make a difference for 2026. Soon enough, we’ll see if a bounce-back year is posted, but it sure feels promising at this juncture for things to get started off on the right foot.
