Philadelphia needs a win tonight over Florida and they are in the playoffs. All they need to do is win; in regulation, in overtime or in a shootout. Just win the game and they are playoff-bound. The Flyers are just two points ahead of Columbus for the third spot in the Metropolitan Division. The Panthers have already been eliminated from playoff contention, but would love to keep the Flyers celebration on-hold for at least one more day.
Flyers moving closer to a playoff spot
After struggling through a 1-4-2 seven-game stretch, the Flyers finally put up a win on Sunday against the lowly Buffalo Sabres by a count of 5-2. The Flyers have lost three straight games on the road and play their next two, including against the Panthers, in Florida. Then they head to Pittsburgh to face the Penguins. The last time they won on the road was in Pittsburgh on March 16. They finish the regular-season at home against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Panthers hoping to play the role of spoiler
Florida was eliminated from playoff contention quite some time ago, but still has something to play for; spoiling other teams’ playoff chances. Florida had lost five games in a row before knocking off the Dallas Stars on Sunday, hindering their chances at a playoff spot. Now, they look to bestow the same fate on the visiting Flyers on Tuesday night at the BB&T Center in Sunrise. The Panthers have won just twice in their past 10 games played.
The visiting Flyers are road chalk in this contest over at Sportsbook.ag, but that is not why we are betting 15 percent of our bankroll on them. We are betting on the Flyers to grab the win because they are the better team and have a lot more at stake than the Panthers do right now as they finally clinch a playoff spot.
