So, Joshua Buatsi fights next on October 21st against Dan Azeez. Everyone in Britain and even most of Europe hoped this fight would happen, and they got their wish. The nice thing about these two fighters is they have power and a long friendship. This bout puts the friendship aside at around 5:00 pm ET from England. Which fighter can notch another knockout in the Light Heavyweight Boxing Bets?
Numbers were on the ball, thanks to the top online boxing betting sites.
Okay, Light Heavyweight Boxing Bets gets ready for an interesting British fight between two unbeaten fighters. It seems fans across Europe cannot wait for this tilt between Joseph Buatsi and Dan Azeez. Naturally, this is one of those under-the-radar fights that should get a good deal more attention. Again, both fighters offer an undefeated boxing treat. Age matters a little, as Buatsi is 30 and Azeez is 34.
Naturally, the two fighters combine for a record of 37-0. Both amusingly have 13 knockouts each. Azeez had seven fights go to a decision, while Buatsi has only seen four go the distance. Now, Azeez fights a bit more often as he will have a layoff of around 100 days. Buatsi’s last fight was back in May. Both fighters have had the refs determine their fate in their last bout. Will that be the case next weekend?
This undercard starts early in the afternoon. More than likely, the fight starts just after 5:00 pm ET on the East Coast (10:00 pm UK time). Some will argue that Buatsi does not have the ceiling some are hyping him for. The same can kind of be said for Azeez. Either way, this bout expects to feature some decent fireworks. It will be fun to see how this fight turns out.
This fight features two pugilists around 175 pounds or so. These two fighters are not the same height as Buatsi, who is about 4 1/2 inches taller. Buatsi holds a several-inch reach advantage over the shorter Azeez. The younger British fighter thinks he can use his reach to stick his jab in while mixing his power shots. Now, Light Heavyweight Boxing Bets agree with this idea.
Does anyone think this fight is going ten rounds? That answer is, maybe. Could it happen? A lot of books have this going 11 or 12 rounds. There is a chance that a knockout occurs earlier than that. Most are ranging anywhere from -275 to -325 for Over 10.5 rounds. Again, that means a decision is likely. The fight going the distance prop now stands around -240 on Bovada. Why not go in the other direction and go for a knockout in any round at +180?
Sky Sports (UK) and even ESPN+ think this will be a very marketable fight between two Orthodox stance pugilists who still have a little upside left. While Azeez’s time may be running out, there is still a bit more for Buatsi if he should triumph in this tilt. Will he get a huge payday? No. Will it hopefully be a step up in competition? That is the hope.
Yes, this fight is certainly not a slam dunk like, say, the Tyson Fury fight. Taking the fight not to go the distance is a risky idea at +180, along with hedging Buatsi by decision at -139. Personally, the former gives us more options than the latter here.
Light Heavyweight Boxing Bets and Azeez are like strange bedfellows. Here is the problem with Dan Azeez. Can he get inside long enough against Buatsi without getting constantly popped by the jab and the straight right hand? If Azeez can unload, anything is possible. Again, we have seen that with British fights before. All it takes is one shot. Just ask Oleksandr Usyk. A fraction of an inch is why Usyk is still the champion.
Okay, Azeez has our attention. Again, he must get inside and force the issue against Buatsi. The older fighter knows this well and knows time is not on his side. Azeez can get his power shots in, but his combinations lately have been a little lacking. Speed has been inconsistent too, and the feeling is training emphasized that shortcoming. Also, many believe that Azeez cannot win this fight by a decision.
Again, Azeez carries more than a puncher’s chance here. One of the biggest dangers is the underdog getting underestimated in a fight like this. The boxers know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Expect a lot more action than their previous bouts. It is again why a knockout just feels more likely than what the numbers are telling us. Take the less than 10.5 rounds here.
An ode to next Saturday’s props reveal some fun nuggets. With those Vegas online boxing odds, there are a myriad of possible outcomes. For one, the knockout numbers for Buatsi were set up in a peculiar way. From Rounds 6-10, one can get him at +2500 to take out Azeez. Sprinkling a little money on a few round props here will not hurt.
Some asked about an earlier knockout. That honestly is not quite as likely, but those numbers are anywhere from +5000 to +8000. Few expect anything like that in the first few rounds.
Light Heavyweight Boxing Top Bets take Buatsi via a knockout.
