On Thursday, January 9, 2014 the Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Carolina Hurricanes for NHL action at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. The puck will drop at 7:00 PM ET as these two teams look to improve their point totals for the season. Both of these teams are fighting for playoff positioning in their divisions within the Eastern Conference as they meet tonight in North Carolina. We will back the visiting Maple Leafs to grab the win.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Closing in on playoff position

Toronto can overtake the Detroit Red Wings in the Atlantic Division standings with a win on Thursday night over the Hurricanes on the road. A win tonight will be difficult to come by since the Maple Leafs are 7-8-4 on the road this year. The last time these two teams met, the Maple Leafs recorded a 5-2 win over the Hurricanes, which came at home. Now, the game site has changed and the Leafs will need to play a complete game to win.

Carolina Hurricanes: On four-game win streak

Carolina is enjoying a four-game winning streak after losing the 5-2 game to the Maple Leafs at the end of December. Their four-game streak is the best of the season for the club and they will look to grab their fifth straight win tonight when they host the Maple Leafs. Carolina has had one of its recent games postponed due to the inclement winter weather. That game was on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres.

We head over to Sportsbook.com to find the betting odds for tonight’s NHL contest between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Carolina Hurricanes in North Carolina. Despite their four-game winning streak, we will bet against Carolina and on Toronto to grab the win with the +105 money line by betting 10 percent of our bankroll on Thursday night.
